Pranav comments:

Congratulations to all the expedition members and the support teams. Followed the media report on Reena's achievement on this site. Just wondering if you have something like this for the forty plus too?

Felicity replies: This expedition was for women of ANY age. Helen Turton was a team member in her 40's!

Emily Dobson comments:

Well done everyone and especially to Stephanie, and also, how are you feeling Kim?

Felicity replies: Kim has been in touch regularly. Her fingers are healing well and she is currently heading to Miami for some warmth!

Lulu comments:

Congratulations! You girls rock! Today Stephanie came to our school to explain everything you did. This shows ladies can do everything men can do!

Kathy Mcgilton comments:

I saw the interview on the Today Show last week and immediately knew I needed to get in touch with someone. Going to Antarctica has been a dream of mine for a million years - well, maybe not a million but ... I am a normal person with a normal family and a normal income so actually going to Antarctica is not within our means so I can only dream. My question is: Are you going to do this expedition again and if so, how would one apply? I would be willing to fill out any application, go to any interview and do any jobs/training required to make this dream of mine come true so .... would you please let me know if this adventure is going to be repeated.

Felicity replies: There is currently no plan to repeat the expedition - but never say never....

Geoff Somers comments:

Well done! Where did you start from? Lat and Long please. Thanks. Geoff Somers

Felicity replies: Hello Geoff! We started from S82 26.961 W064 58.567

Glann Welden comments:

Congrats to you all! I've been lucky to spend two summers at Pole and met several teams who skied and/or hiked in from Patriot Hills. I admire your toughness under those brutal conditions. Some of the teams I met had suffered really bad frostbite. Were you lucky enough to dodge that bullet? The hardest thing for me, working under the SPT all summer was keeping my glasses fogg free. And going to the bathroom was a challenge at times as well. Maybe I'll catch you next time!

Felicity replies: We dodged the frost bite but not the fogging goggles - it was a constant frustration!

Jerri Falsetto comments:

Congratulations. Naturally, you estimated the supplies that you would need on your journey. Where did you go wrong as in overestimation or underestimating? What different items would you bring next time that you wished you had?

Felicity replies: We had too much food and fuel during the first half of the expedition and in the second half we could have done with a little bit more toothpaste!

Dr Mamatha Lala comments:

That's absolutely incredible!! Welcome back all of you!! It was great to be part of the team in spirit!!

Andreas Meyer comments:

Congratulations to the WHOLE team! Nice to meet you at South Pole and Patriot Hills :-) Andy from Germany

Micha comments:

Hello everyone.I came to see you talk at the Commonwealth Club last night and I just wanted to let you know that you all truely inspired me. I am also a young woman and the message your achievement sends out to women and young people around the world is phenomenal - teamwork, determination, the empowerment of women, the ability to pursue your dreams, environmental awareness, the list is endless! My friend and I are dreamers and optimists just like you and we are already planning what adventure we could do, inspired by yours. I wish you every success for whatever you choose to do next and just really wanted to thank you for the positive and incredible thing you all have achieved. Thanks and congratulations to you all! Micha

Felicity replies: Thanks Micha and do keep in touch about your own adventure!

Maye Dunn comments:

Tim (UK Support) replies:Hi Sumithra, the team were recruited about a year ago by responding to adverts in their own countries. The team have just finished their expedition so I'm afraid it's a bit late for anyone else to join now!

Tim (UK Support and Translator) replies:Hola Benjamin! I doubt they have time to be bored yet but suspect they are very tired. They celebrated at least as many New Year's as there are countries amongst the team so probably had a pretty good time!

donna Henderson comments:

Hi A quick question for the National Geographic evening. Are there any indicators of global warming down at the pole? ie is the temp warmer? More ice melt etc? Donna

Tim (UK Support) replies:<> Hi Donna, this question was actually asked on the night (perhaps by you?). I'm sure Felicity can fill you in when she's back but, as I recall, her view was that as climate change is something that happens over a long period of time, it would be difficult to observe such a "change" with a single visit.

Nural from Brunei asks:

Era, how do you conduct your daily prayers?

Era (Brunei) replies: I do my prayers in the tent. The times are convenient so I can do them inside. The prayers are roughly 5:11am for Subo, 1:53pm for Suvor. Asr is about 6:11pm, and then Maghrib is about 10:15pm. I went on the website and it actually has the Kiblar direction for Antarctica which was south so I can use my compass to find it. (Apologies if the terms are spelled incorrectly. This message was transcribed from a satellite phone. - Tim, UK Support).

Kylie (New Zealand) comments:

No santa or penguins yet but the Twin Otters just dropped and dropped off chocolate cake and a parcal from Eva and George including fudge. Thanks! Team received fudge for birthday. Got our Christmas present! It arrived today and we are going to eat today - it's going to go down an absolute treat! (I got this message a week or so back but have only just been able to get it up after fixing those technical problems. Better late than never I hope! - Tim, UK Support)

Celia Dickinson comments:

We have been keeping an eye on your progress - what an expedition...! Just wanted to send love & best wishes from a snowy Tonbridge Kent England. Happy Christmas to you all Celia

Dr Larry Day comments:

I guess the time zone the explorers are in changes dependent on their location so close to the pole...but what approx zone are they in now please? I'm based in Southampton UK but am originally from Cyprus... Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to the team running the expedition. I have been really impressed by the way everything has gone so far. Dr Larry Day

Tim (UK Support and Time Lord) replies: Hello Dr Larry! The Amundsen-Scott research station at the South Pole operates on New Zealand time (currently GMT +13) because that's where most of the scientists fly there from. But as I'm sure you know, it's 24 hour daylight at the moment so it doesn't make a huge amount of difference what time you set your circadian clock to and the girls are operating on GMT -3.

Yong Tsuey Ling comments:

Era's weight contest: 220 Kcal what does the K stand for in the Power Porridge?

Tim (UK Support and Nutritionist of the Day) replies: It's short for kilocalorie which, for all intents and purposes, is the same as your regular calorie!

Hi Felicity and team, Huge congratulations on the immense progress you have already made. A fantastic and well-derserved achievement all round. Fascinating! Congratulations to Felicity for pulling the project together. I wish the whole team - expeditioneers and support crew - the very best of luck for a successful outcome, and a Merry Crimbo. Cheers, Peter

Chris May and Room 9 comments:

We did really well and the children really enjoyed the challenge. We filled in a large A3 graph daily and on our Mt Cook camp late Nov we walked out to the Tasman Glacier to get our 1 km a day in. We reckoned that out on the Glacier Explorers trip, the icebergs were our little bit of Antarctica...like where Kylie is!

Our school finished on the 11 Dec, so chn took their own graph hom for the holiday and some will carry on with it. Shame it was during hols but the activity won't be lost.

How is the expedition going? I was thinking today that the team will be only a week away from their target if all is going well.

Love to Kylie from all in Room 9 and Chris....Merry Christmas on ice! xxxxxx

Gordon Heyward comments:

When you arrive at the Pole, How do you get back?

Alex comments:

Hey! I have a question - What happens when they reach the geographic South pole?? Do they have to ski back? Or will there be another base camp there with an aeroplane waiting to take them to Chile?

Barbara Sim comments:

Hello Kylie thinking of you all the time, watching the moral guage!! looking at the Klms, there is only as far as from here to Timaru to go, lift up and away. how do you get back from the Pole? Plane or helicopter?? Do go carefully, MRW will be with us on xmas day so we will have a wine for you in anticipation, all our love and very best wishes to all the girls hugs all round, Aunty B and co

Tim (UK Support) replies:Gordon, Alex, Barbara... They will be - touch wood - picked up! The same plane, as run by ALE, that dropped them off and re-supplied them, will arrive at the South Pole to fly them back to the Patriot Hills base camp before returning to Chile, London and, eventually, their respective countries.
